CARTERTON NEWS.
(From.Our Resident Reporter). Wednesday. The work in connection with the new filter bed of the waterworks is proceeding apace, eight men being engaged at the work. Two young: men, visitors from Mascerton, were convicted and discharged in the Police Court this morning on charges of drunkenness, before Mr J. T. M. Hornsby, J.P. Last evening the Dalefield Methodist Band of Hope rendered a very pleasant programme in the Methodiat Schoolroom, Carterton, in the presence of a fair audience. The items were much appreciated, and at the conclusion the performers were entertained at supper by their Carterton friends. The Catholic Concert held here last night was a great success in every way, the attendance being good, and the programme very entertaining. The dancing of the children, who are pupils of Miss Harbroe, was excellent. Some £lfi was taken at the door, and Mrs W. J. Berrill, the promoter, is to be complimented upon the result of her efforts.
