The railway wasbaways are being rapidly repaired. It is expected that running of trains will be generally restored to-day. The floods everywhere are rapidly receding.
Fuller details disclose many thrilling escapes and heroic efforts on tha part of rescuers In numerous cases people had to be taken from the roofs, after occupying dangerous positions for many hours. At the height of the flood the whole township of Rupanyup, 185 miles rtorth-west of Melbourne, was submerged four and a-half feet. The water rose so rapidly that people were caught in bed, and were forced to make a hurried exit. Both the town reservoirs burst
A hotel at Banyena, in the Rupanyup district, wiiis completely washed away. A man named Ellis, ot Snake Valley, and an Unknown man at Elnor, were drowned. News from the flooded areas is being delayed owing to telegraphic interruptions.
