SPIRITUALISM.

(To tfte fcjuitor). Sir, —In your issue of the 18th, a correspondent signing himself "Christian Spiritualist," writes defending Spiritualism, and quotes the Bible, vjz., Ist Samuel, 28, 7 to 15, as if it supported him. But quite the reverse is the case, as the Bible simpjy gives the narrative of a meeting between "Saul," " the God-for-saken King of Israel, and a Witch, and in no way whatever does it uphold what the witch said as "truth." We read in Exodus, 22, 18, God's command, thus:—Tnou shalt not sutler a Witch to live (according to your correspondent G.S. they were spirit mediums), and the reason they were not fit to live is given in Dueteronomy, 18, 10 to 12, namely: "There shall not be found among yoih ... any that useth divination, witch. ... or a consulter with familiar spirits. ... for all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord." Mark the word "all" in verse 12, which includes those who do such things today. If what the woman said was the truth, Gud wculd uphold and not condemn her, but, seeing it was decreed otherwise, then the reason is, that such like were, on account of their abominable practice of lying fraud, not fit to live, and what held good then; holds good now, for the "abomination" is just the same. —I am, etc., TRUTH. Petone, August 19th.
