By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 16. One of the moat magnificent of Auckland's buildings, the Strand Arcade, belonging to Campbell and Ehrenfriec l , three-storeys high, and running from Queen Street to Elliot Street, was tota iy gutted by fire to-niaht. The flames broke out shortly after 8 o'clock, and had soon increased to great dimensions, the interior of the building being nothing but a roaringfurnace. At first it looked as if the buildings on either side, the Albert Hotel and Thistle Hotel, would be doomed, but thanks to the skilfulness of the firemen they were both saved, and the flames by 9 o'clock had been practically subdued.
