CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Rpsident Reporter). Saturday. Mr R. J. Brown, who has acted as agent here for the Singer Sewing Machine Company, has relinquished the position, having been appointed manager of a butter factory at Linton . Mr Brown will leave here on Tuesday. J Messrs Cuddie and Singleton, of the Dairy Department staff, will shortly address the dairy farmers of Dalefield on the matter of inaugurat - ing a cow testing association. Last season the Dalefield Dairy Company made 419 tons of cheese, which was 100 tons in excess of the amount made the previous year. Mr and Mrs H. s. Moss have returned to Carterton, and have been welcomed home by their numerous friends. Mr Moss was successful in covering all the ground he mapped out before he left these shores for the Old Country. A social will take place at Clareville on Tuesday evening, in aid of the Hall funds. A party of Go vernraent roadmen, who have been engaged on works at the Carrington Settlement, left here to-day for Stronvar, to carry out a contract there.
