TE WHARAU NOTES.
■<£Jm (From a Correspondent.) Mr Gordon Mcintosh, the newly appointed teacher, will take op hia duties on 17th September. Mr T. M. Grant is at present acting as releiving teacher. The le Wharau bachelors purpose holding bachelor's ball here in about a fortnight «nd already the event is being looked forward to with much pleasure. During the past winter months, ping pong, which a few years age was such a popular indoor pastime, has beer, considerably revived in this district and the many enjoyable tournaments engaged in have helped to pass the long winter evenings away. A football match will be played at Homewood next Saturday between Carswells and Homewood and as both teams are said to be in hard training, a keenly contested match may be expected. A good number of lambs is to be seen in the paddocks on the different stations in this district, and the farmers are hopeful of having a good season. Many farmers express the opinion athat tne past winter has been the mildest and most favourable for a great number of years. Mr T. Scott, one of our best known residents, has gone to town , for a short holiday.
