BOROUGH COUNCIL AND SOCIALISTS.

By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N.. August 9.

The local branch of the Socialist party has written to the Borough Council, further protesting against the Council joining the Employers' Federation, on/the ground that it is a political association, with objects hostile to the welfare of a large number of ratepayers, who are wage earners. The branch states its intention of bringing the payment by the council of a subscription to the federation under the notice of the Auditor-General, as being illegal, and,- if the payment is not disallowed, of bringing an action against the council for an injunction.
