MASTERTON TENNIS CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the report to be : submitted to the annual meeting of i the Masterton Lawn Tennis Club, to ] be held this aftermon:— Your com- j mittee have much pleasure in pre- 1 senting the following report of the ] working of the club during the past j season. The membership again shows ; an increase now reaching a total of \ 160 of which number 103 are on the < active list. A glance at the accompanying balance sheet shows the club to be in a sound financia' position, the balance of assets over liabilities being £lll 17s lid, an improvement of £24 10s 8d on the balance sheet of season 1907-08. It is satisfactory to note that there are no outstanding ( subscriptions. On January 22nd an d | 23rd the club's fojrteenth Annual Opan Championship Meeting was ( held, and being favoured with a re- , cord number of entries and fine ( weather, was again a great success. The thanks of the club are due to the following for. donations to the trophy f and-.—Messrs W. G. Beard, J. B. Moodie, W. H. Cruickshank, F. Dunre, A> Hendprson, W.F.C.A., Ltd., A. S. Paterson and Co., J. Duthie and Co., Lid , and J. Fay ton. During the season two matches were played against the Pahiatua Club, and one each against Eketahuna and i Carterton, all of which were won The following club tournaments were also held:—Men's Handicap Singles, first and second grade, Men's HandiI cap Doubles, Ladies' Handicap Singles, and two combined Yankee Handicaps. Through the death of Mr W. P. James we have lost an esteemed member, one who was keenly interested in the affairs of the club, and was for several years a VicePresident. Your committee have already expressed the club's deepest sympathy with Mrs Jamas in htr great loss.,
