(From Our Reporter). Thursday. ™ There wp.s a good attendance at the Konini Ladies' Hockey Club social held in the Konini Hall, on Tuesday evening. 'J'he hall was tastefully decorated, and the flour was in first-class order. Music for the dancing was supplied by ladies of the district, and vocal items were given by Misses E. Bissett and Hannon and Mrs H. Hirst. The energetic Secre tary, Miss C. Verry and the ladies of the Club, worked hard to ensure the success of the social. Mr D. Kelly made a very capable M.C. A pinafore ball, the wind-up of the Hamua Assembly is to be held in the Hamua Hall this Thursday evening. As the outcome of a further inquiry lit Id last evening into the running of Otus in the Hunters' Handicap Hurdles, at the Woodlands Hunt Club meeting, yesterday, the horse and rider were disqualified for two years. Mr P. Debreceny, the well-known proprietor of the Club Hotel, has disposed of his interest in the hotel to Mr A. Manguson. Mr Manguson, *who recently owned the Club Hotel in Eketahuna, and Mrs Manguson are very popular. I uiu.t&tand <i a Mr Debreceny contemplates remaining in Pahiatua. The sale of the business was effected by Mr Peter 'Tulloch, land agent. The annual meeting of St. Paul's Church wa3 held in the Sunday Schoolroom last evenig. The reports for the year were very satisfactory, and the balance-sheet showed a substantial credit. During the evening vocal items were rendered by Miss Tulloch, Miss S. Little and Mr C. Mills, and a quartette was nicely rendered by Misses Norrcll and Sayers, and Messrs Clough and Mills. At the conclusion of the meeting light refreshments were handed round. The Konini football team play Hamua on Saturday, and Pahiatua will try conclusions with Nireaha. The latter match, which is to be played on the Recreation Ground, should be an interesting one and if Nireaha win they will annex the Bush Union Banner. The Pahiatua Racing Club Committee will meet in the Commercial Hotel on Tuesday evening. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., add fresh entries to their first opening sale in t'.ie P.F.A. Yards on Tuesday next. To funeral of the late Mr J. Brannigan passed through Pahiatua this morning. The cortege was followed by a large number of friends ar,d sympathisers.
