In the House of Commons;the Navy Estimates w.erj agreed to without a division. In the course of a desultory debate, Mr A. H. Lee, Conservative.member for Fareham, condemned the Government's failure to provide sufficient up-to date destroyers. When the existing programmes were completed, he said, Britain would have 84 d:B troy era against Germany's 72-a proportion ludicrously insufficient.
The discussion on the report stages ofthe Naval, Military, and Civil Estimates were closured, and votes totalling 75 millions sterling were passed.

Duke of Portland, addressing his tenants at Welbeck Aboey, Nottinghamshire, said a thousand pounds weekly waa spent in wages on his estate. This would necessarily be largely diminished if. the Budget became law, thus disorganiting the iocal labour market.
