TE WHARAU NOTES.

(From a Correspondent.)^^ Mr and Mrs T. Cotter, ot' Te Wharau gave a moat enjoyable social and dance in the schoolroom last Friday evening, when a large number of people from the surrounding district were present. During the evening songs and recitations were rendered by Misses Paker and McKelvie, and Messrs Kohi, Ross, Richards and Scott, and needless to state were greatly appreciated by all, especially the songs and music rendered by Mr T. Scott, whose vocal ana instrumental talents are widely known in this district. Dancing continued until an early hour in the morning when the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought to a close what is generally considered to have been one of the most enjoyable functions yet held in Te Wharau. Messrs S. Shaw and Skipper ably carried out the duties of M.'sC. A football match which created a considerable amount of interest was played L last Saturday at Homewood between t'enui and Homewood, the match ending in a win for the home team by 8 points to nil. The good weather we have lately been experiencing has broken and very heavy rain has set in, four inches of rain having fallen in 12 hours.
