OBITUARY.
| MRS STILBORN. Our Tint:: correspondent telephones yesterday as follows:—-There passed away, at 5 o'clock, this n crning, another of our old and respected settlers in the person of Mrs Stilborn, widow of the late Mr John Stilborn. The news of hfr death was received with general expressions of regret throughout the district, for although the deceased was of a retiring disposition it may txuly be said that she was everybody's friend, and that she had not a single enemy. Many will lons* rej e inber the warm hospitality oi 'her home. The deceased *"as a native of North Dalton, in Yorkshire, and had r.ached the mature age of 71 years. She came to the Dominion with her bubsand in 1867 in the > ship Colleroon, settling at Castlepoint. For several years they lived at lea Station, where Mr Stilborn was manager, and from there they struck out to make a home /or themselves, which they accomi plished with success, the family now joining one of the best farms in the district. The late Mrs Stilborn endured the hardships consequent on early pioneering. The deceased leaves four daughters (Mrs G. S. Langdbn. Mrs R. L. Laflgdun and Misses Mary and Emma SUlborn) and five sons (Messrs J. B. Siiiuorn, H. H. Stilborn, tL'rt Stiltorn, Dlgiiy Stilbor i and Cyril Stilborn). There are twelve grandchildren. The fu:,eral will leave Burionfitld for the Tinui Cemetery, at 1.30 u.m , to-rrnrrow. MR F. MASON.
The numerous friends of Mr Francis Mason, master of the Dalefleld School, will regret to hear of his death, which occurred yesterday morning, writes our'. Carterton correspondent. The deceased, who was 48 year/nf age, had been ailing for some time, heart disease being the cause of death. The late was a native" t of Perth, Scotland, and commenced his education in the Academy there, coming to New Zealand with hi* parents when quite "a youth. At Wellington he qualified for a position under the Education Board, and was for eight years second assistant master at the Terrace School, Wellington, and eleven years teacher at the Taueru school. About two' months ngu he was transferred to Dalefield. He leaves a widow, who was formerly a Miss Kirker, of Wellington The interment is to take place at Wellington.
