PERSONAL.
Miss Margaret Gilfillan, one of the oldest residents of the Wanganui district, is dead, at the age of 78. She was the sole survivor of J'the terrible "Gilfi'.lan massacre" at Matarawa in 1847, the whole family, except Miss Gilfillan (and, her father, who wa9 absent) being murdered by'natives.
