DR. BORANOFF.
BEFORE THE POLICE COURT. REMANDED TILL MONDAY. By Telegraph-Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 27. Arthur Cotlan BoranofT was charged at the Magistrate's Court to-day, that on July 17th, 1909, at Wellington, he did obtain of and from one Minnie Moore, the sum of £1 lis by means of false pretences, with intent to defraud. The accused, who is well-known in Wellington as Dr Boranoff, self styled a Russian exile and political refugee, was arrested in Hastings some days ago, and was remanded from there to Wellington. He has been in custody ail the time. Mr Hindmarsh appeared on behalf of the accused, and applied for a remand until Monday next. He wished to bring a witness from Featherston. Chief Detective Broberg had no objection to the remand, which was accordingly granted on Mr Hindmarsh's application. Bail was allowed in accused's own recognisance of £lO, with one surety of £lO.
