A quiet wedding was celebrated at the Catholic Church, this morning, by Father McKenna, the contracting parties being Mr Thomas McMullen, of Pahiatua, and ; Miss Ethel Blanche Harvey, of Mangatainoka. Miss Cooper attended as bridesmaid, and Mr 1. McMullen acted as best man. At the statutory meeting of the Eketahuna Farmers' Association the following motion was carried:—That the Directors take into consideration the advisability of starting a branch in Pahiatua." At the "Mart" on Saturday pigs found ready sale at the following prices:—Weaners, lis to 12s;slips f 14s; stores, 245. The public turned up in large numbers to take advantage of the meat sale, the cheapness of which is a great boon to thrifty housewives. Mr J. C. Cooper, who is attending the Dominion Conference of the Farmer's Union, will give a resume of the work done at the Conference at a meeting of the Pahiatua Central S W nch to be called shortly gffccy i the above Conference takes place. At the farewell social to Mf F. Wells on Saturday evening at Mangatainoka, songs were sung by Messro L. Barrel!,• J. Brind, H. Cowan, Baird and SWan, and recitations by Messrs Ghat win, Barrell and Molloy. Mr J. Bifnd played the accompaniments. A movement is on foot to form a rifle club in Managatinoka, and a meeting of those interested will be held at an early date. The Secretary of the Golf Club received word to-day that a team from the Manawatu Golf Club would visit Pahiatua on Wednesday next to play a return mach against the Pahiatua Club. The grandstand that is being erected in the Woodville Domain Ground is nearing completion, and the footballers are inaugurating a football match of special interest on the day fixed for the opening. Arrangements for tho Catholic Social in the local Drill Hall on Wednesday evening are well in hand I and the music will be supplied by i Mr Bluett and family. Mr H. A. Thomson, of the Central l Book Arcade, has just indented a ; line of very handsome and pistur- i esque post cards, which are well ] worth inspecting.
