HOSKING MEMORIAL BATHS.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS.

Matters in connection with the Hosking Memorial Baths question, Which have been iftfercising the mind of the public very considerably during the last few cays, have taken a new turn, arid from present indications there is every prospect |of an amicable settlement of the I whole matter. It is due chiefly to tiat • live and energetic body, the Ladies' STvvlmrning Club, that the i lown owes the new development. Yesterday morning a deputation from the club waited on Dr Hosking and asked him to reconsider the question. Dr Hosking stated that ha could not make an offer of £SOO. as ha had, according to hi 3 word, cabled home for a supply of radium. Matters were then discussed, and a new arrangement arrived at. The offer made by Dr Hoski«s: is understood to include a motor car nearly new, and a section and cottage, situated in Worksop Road, opposite the residence of Mr M. Caselberg. It has been suggested that the properties in question should be disposed of by way of a monster art union; at the same time there ia reason to believe that if any resident cares to make an offer of £SOO he may become the possessor of both motor car and cottage. Owing to this new turn in affairs, the Mayor has now called a special meeting of the Borough Council for to-morrow evening, for the purpose of considering a resolution proposed by him which is as follows I :—"That the Borough Engineer be instructed to proceed with the erection of the Ladies' Swimming Bath en the site agreed upon in the Park near Bruce Street on the plans and specifications prepared by him, on the Ladies' Swimming Club providing the sum of £SOO for that purpose, they having agreed to do so."' The result of the meeting will be awaited with considerable • interest, and a full attendance of the Council is anticipated. It will beremembaryd that at the last meeting of the Council, at which the request of Dr Hosking to have the baths erected by the Engineer was negatived, there were only four councillors besides the Mayor present.
