Mr A. E. Remington, M.P , for Bangitikei, is confined to his house by illness. Sir George Clifford has been unanimously re-elected president of the 2>lew Zealand Racing Conference. Mr T. W. Fisher, Under-Secretary for Native Affairs; Mr H. M. Smith, ft Crown Lands Ranger, Hastings, and -iJ Mr Ihaia Hutana, of Waipawa. have been appointed members of the Te Ikaroa Maori Land Board. The death is announced from Auckland of Mr Robert Rew, the well-known merchant. Mr Rew, who had been in ill-hsalth for some time, underwent a serious operation on Saturday last. He leaves a widow, four sons and two daughters. The elder daughter is Mrs W. P. Bis- ■ &er, of Wellington.
