Fine weather prevailed for the second day of the meeting, until the fourth event, when showers set in. The course was heavier than on Saturday, consequent on the heavy rains that fell up to the early hours of the morning. The attendance was large and representative. The sport commenced with the Glasgow Handicap. There were eight starters, and the race proved an exercise gallop for St. Bill, who got nicely away, and wa3 never caught, winning by three lengths from the fast finishing Sweet Angelus, with Penates a good third. The heavy state of the course was proved by the fact of it taking lmiu lOsecs to run the five furlongs. The withdrawal of Hilarian,. Vinco and Rawera left eleven to go to the post for the Karori Handicap. Thetis was first out, and attended by Marathon and Miscast led to the home turn, where the latter came through and easily holding, her won won by two lengths from Thetis. Pukewai, the favourite, finished well back among those that found the slippery going not to their Isking. A good looking field of nine filed out for the Victoria Hurdles, of one mile and a half. Tauira, winner of the Winter Hurdles, on the first day, was made favourite, and justified the confidence reposed in him by going to the front early and winning all the way. Wirrall and Kelso were prominent in the early stages, but at the finish Waione was the only one to make Tauira gallop. La Beau was the only defection from the Wellington Steeplechase, for which a fine lot of thirteen jumpers paraded. Lingerer, Te Arai and Capitol were the popular selection. From a level despatch Otus, Tilson and Mocassin were first out, and led past the stand. Otus kept up the running, attended hy Irish and Tilson, to the bottom of the straight. Rounding into the back stretch Irish took command, and was followed by Tilson and Lingerer. This oider was maintained the second time past the stand, where Te Arai deposed Lingerer, from third place, while Capitol was running fourth. At the six furlongs post Te Arai raced up to Irish, and at the next jump had a slight lead. Three furlongs from home Capitol put in a good run, and when within three lengths of the leader fell, and Te Arai, maintaining his position, won by two lengths from Irish, with Nadador third and Mocassin fourth. Only five contested the Waterloo Handicap, of seven furlongs. Wimmera quickly took up the running, and led to the finish, winning by a length from Dawn. The Jumpers' Flat Handicap, of one mile and a half, brought out eleven starters. Scotty was made a pronounced favourite, and taking the lead at the half mile post, came away and won by three lengths from Compass. The day's racing was brought to a close with the Thprndon Handicap, of five furlongs. Te Ru was best backed, and after Inchbonny and Wai2ta had led to the home turn, the Birkenhead gelding came away and won by two lengths from Purakau. Investments were brisk throughout, and of' the seven events four were won by first favourites, and two by the second best supported candidates.
