WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale: —We offered (50 bales of wool, 3,000 skins, 400 hides and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and liorsuhair. There was a good attendance of buyers. Wool —Good competition but at a lower range of prices than last sale. Crutchings are still coming in freely, but sell at a halfpennny less than they would have reached a month ago. We quote Crossbred fleece, 5d to 7d; lambs, 6d to 7d; superior cruichings, 4.fd to medium crutchings, 4d to 41d; inferior crutchings, 3d to 4d; pieces andb ellies, 2d to 4d; locks, lAd, to 3d. Skins—Steady at last sale prices. We quote— Fine crossbreds, 7d to 7Jd crossbreds, Gd to 6;|d; lamb skins, fjd to 6£d; dead skins, 3d to 5-Jd; dead hoggets, 4d to 5.Jd: short wools, 4d to sd; dry pelts, 2|d to 4d; green skins, 4s to 5s 7d each; skins, green, 3s to 4s 6d'. Tallow — Firm. Parcels in shipping order £22 10s; tins, £lB to £2O 15s; rough fat, £lO tu £ls. Horsehair, Is to Is 4d per lb. Horns, 5s to 16s per cwt. Cowtails, Is 3d to Is lOd per dozen. Hides—Market steady—any tendency was in favour of buyers. Calfskins were down a halfpenny. We quote—Ox hides, heavy, 6d to 6sd; oxhides, medium, s|d to 6|d; ox hides, light, 5d to 6d; cowhides, 5d to s§d; cut and slippy hides, 2d to sd; stag hides,2Jd to 4j|d; bull hides, 2d to4£d; yearlings, 5d to 53d; calf, best, 7£d to 9|d; calf, medium, 5d to 7d; calf, cut and slippy, 3d to sd. Prices were as follow: —Wool—Prices were easier, showing a decline of £d to id per lb; crossbred, s|d to 7d; dead, < s£d; black, s|d; lambs, seedy, s|d; crossbred pieces, to 4id; locks, 2Jd; crutchings, 3|d to 5Jd. Sheepskins —Prices at par to £d lower. Halfbred, Bc}; crossbred, s£d to 7|d; crossbred, short 5d to 5J:d; crossbred, damaged and broken, 2d to 4|d; merino, 4a to 6d; pelfs, 3d to 4Jd; lambs, 5Jd 6Jd; crossbred, damp, heavy, 4s 3d to 5s 7d each, light, 3s Id. Hides—Prices £d to iid lower. No prime hides offered. ! Ox heavy, 6£d to (Jfd per lb; medium, 5Jd to 6Jd; light, 4|d to 5Jd; slippy and cut, 4§d to sd; cow, medium, 4gd to 51d; light, 4gd to 4|d; cut and slippy, to 4Sd; bulls, 3£d to 4Jd; calf, best 8d to 9d; medium, 7£d; inferior, 2Ad to s|d; yearlings, s|d; horse hides, 3s 2d to 7s 6d each. Tallow, in kegs, 21s 3d to 225; in tins, 22s to 22s 6d.
The New Zeaiand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:--We offered a large catalogue at Friday's sale. The wool was composed principally of crutchings. As, was to be expected in face of reports from London, prices r(b. ceded by Jd, and in some cases lb.'Sheepskins sold well at late rates, with exception of green skins, for which lower prices hadto be accepted. Hides and tallow were in good demand, but calfskins were rather lower. We quote: —Wool —Halfbred, 7id to 7£d; crossbred, 6Jdto7d; crossbred inferior, 4&d'to6d; crutchings, good 4£d to sd; crutchincs, inferior I and seedy, 2d to 4d; locks and pieces, 2£d to 4Jd. Sheepskins—Crossbred, fine 7d to 7Jd; crossbred, coarse osd to 7d; lamb skins, 6d to 6|d; dead and faulty skins, 2Ad to 5.? d; good pelts, 4dto4£d; damaged pelts, to 3d; salted and damp skins 2s 6d to 5s 6d each. Hides —Ox, medium, 51d to 6d; light ox and cow, to sid; yearlings 5d to s£ci; faulty hides, 2£d to 4Ad; calf, sound, 6j|d io B£d; calf, damaged, 3d to s£d. Tallow, in tins, up to2 2spercwt. Horsehair to Is 3d per lb.
