HORRIBLE CRUELTY.
JOHaNNITE DENS RAIDED. MORTIFYING THE FLESH TO GAIN SALVATION. CHILDREN SHOCKINGLY ILLTREATED. ST. PETERSBURG, July 17. The Russian police raided five Johannite dens, and found a hundred and twenty emaciated children, be tween two and eleven years of age, confined in darknes or the purpose of mortifying the flesh and thereby gaining salvation. The children had been badly beaten, and their knees were lacerated through prolonged kneeling.
