SYMPATHY WITH SCOTTISH MINERS.
BALLOT FOR A GENERAL STRIKE. United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph Copyright. LONDON, July 16. The Miners' Federation of Britain has decided to take a ballot on the question of a general strike in sympathy with the Scottish miners, who go on strike against a reduction of wages on the 26th inst. Received July 17, 5 p.m. LONDON, July 17. The Miners' Federation ballot on the question of a national stoppage of work cannot be completed to allow of a strike before September Ist. Mr .Winston Churchill's offer to intervene in the Scottish coal dispute, in order to prevent a strike or lock-out, has been provisionally accepted.
