POLLARD'S JUVENILE OPERA COMPANY.
The following from an Auckland contemporary speaks volumes as to what playgoer's may expect from the Polliard Company on Tuesdav "Planquette's delightful creation "Rip Van Winkle" contains so unique a story and is crammed so full of mirth and melody (with a decided sprinkling of pathos) that its replaying must be welcome to anyone who cares for works) of genius. Last night the Pollard Juvenile Opera Company essayed the heavv task, of conveying to a splendid audience the cheerful message of the opera. The simple and unique story is known by everybody so it remains but to sav that Mr Charles Albert' was surprising in the part "of the Rip of varying age. His undemanding of the part is unusual and his method original Either as the young ne'er do well of the village or as the whiskered patriarch with, the rusted gun and the memories of the past he distinguishes the ( character withr sire feeling, fine dramatic effect, and a rich sense of humour. Then, too, the comedian's voice has managed to keep good and sweet and sympathetic through the wear and tear of work, so that his everv entrance is welcome and each exit a disappointment. The vigour and interest characteristic of juveniles is especially marked in the playing of the Pollards anj3 particularly in an ojiera thatjis so worthy of extra effort."
