TENUI 'FOOTBALL NOTES. .A cup match between Homewood and Tenui was played at the latter place on Saturday afternoon last, and resulted, after a hard fought game, in a "draw," neither a de scoring, writes a Tenui correspondent. The ground was in a sloppy condition after the recent rains, and this made the ball very difficult to handle. A laige number of the public were present, including a fair percentage of ladies, to witness the game. 'Tenui won the toss, and Homewood kicked off, and right through the first spell the Tenui team had the visitors on the defence, and on several occasions nearly crossed the Homewood line. Upon changing ends Tenui attacked again, and Homewood had a. busy time defending. Some good kicking by the Homewood backs enabled them to alter the position of affairs, and Tenui were placed on the defence for fully a quarter* of an hour, but the solid combination of the home players prevented a sc«re. For Homewood, Jackson, Eller?, Karu and Pauapa played splendid games and fnr Tenui Jim | Collerton, Sid Schofield, Ernie Schofield, "Possum" Sharp, Jos. Cameron and Wingate were the pick. For Mr Maunsell's Cup Tenui are leading by 3i points. Carswells has scored 2 points, Homewood 1 % points, and Mataikona nil. Tenui will play Carswells next Saturday at Carsweils All players are requested to be ready to leave by Pinhey Bros.' drag, leaving the Tenui Post Office at 12 o'clock sharp.
