MASTERTON BOWLING CLUB.
ANNUAI REPORT.
The following is the annual repor of the Masterton Bowling Club foi the year ended June 30th, 1909: — In submitting for your approval the eleventh annual report and balance sheet, your committee are pleased to be able to congratulate members on the continued progress Df the club. There are now IIT members, and the prospect of increasing the total during the coming jeafon is encouraging. Thanks to the ■Jround Committee and the caretaker ;here was more play partaken of by nembers than any previous year irt he history of the club, the old jreen affording the whole of the )!av. During the year the new jreen has rectived a thoroug h overruling, and it is anticipated that it ivill be Jti capital order for play luring the approaching season. While your club's finances are satia'actory, it was sincerely thought ;hat the levy an i raising of the subscription would have wiped out .he present bank overdraft, it was lot to be, as yoir Committee has iad a most hard year in getting in he subscriptions, and as showing in ;he assets th?re is still £75 outstandng which, if in hand, would have nt '.he Club in a very healthy posiion. The committee and members ■xceedingly regret to record the ieath of Mr W. P. James, and the s."nr"! i hv of the whole of the club nom' p rs is extended to Mrs James in 1 relatives in their sad bereavenent. At. the Northern Bowling Association's Tournament, held at Napier in January last, the club was :reditably represented by Messrs J. Z. Ewington, 0. Pragnell. J. Cochrane and Chad. Perry. During the leason the club has paid visits tc r'ahiatua, Palmerston North, Karori, Newtown. Wellington, Hutt, Petone, Carterton and Greytown, and the 31ub received visits from Pahiatua, jarterton, Wellington, and Hutt. Thanks are due to the following foi ;rophies and gifts to the club:- E.
