PERSONAL.

Miss E. Glanville has been appointed assistant mistress at the Mauriceville West School. Mrs Svensen, of Newman road, Eketahuoa,. had the misfortune to break one of her arms on Monday evening through falling to the ground. Messrs A. J. K. Isherwood (ten years' service) and W. J. Jamieson ( six years' service) of the Labour Department, Wellington, retire under the Government's retrench ' ment scheme.

Mrs and Mrs F. S. Cooper and family will leave by the midday train to-day for Hawera, whfcre they propose to reside. While in Masterton both Mr and Mrs Cooper became very popular in business of conducting the Central Hotel. The friends of Mrs Phillips, wife of the Vicar at Tinui. will regret to hear that she is seriously ill. The ambulance brougham was sent out from Masterton to Tinui yester- ( day, and Mrs Phillips will be brought into the Hospital to-day. The Revs. J. A. Jacob (Hawera), C. C. Harper (Palmerston North) and T. H. Sprott (Wellington) have been appointed without opposition as the clerical representatives of the Wellington diocese at the forthcoming meetings of the General Synod. The following were appointed as the lav representatives on the same occasion: —Messrs K. Wilberfoss (Wellington), W. J. Birch (Marton), T. F. Martin (Wellington), and J. Martin (Martinborough).
