' Bates' general weather forecast:— ColdTand damp weather is probable on the East Coast of the North Island, and cold changeable weather elsewhere; moderate to strong south-easterly winds prevailing north of Hokitika and Akaroa and southerly elsewhere. The barometer will probably continue hierh for a few days, but very unsettled weather is probable at the end uf the week, especially iii all parts south of Kawhia and Napier. Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Palin for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on Sunday was 11 points, and for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on [ Monday 13 points.
