The first round of the Auckland Hockey Association's Senior Championship fixtures concluded yesterday, leaving Auckland (last year's champions) in the lead by one point from United, who are a point ahead of University. The Masterton District High School girls were defeated by the Greytown School girls, at Greytown, on Saturday last by six goals to nil. The Masterton School girls team was a weak one, some of their best players being absent. At Carterton, on Saturday, the Kiwi (Dalefield) ladies met and defeated a team from the Carterton District High School by two goals to nil. The game was very even and fast throughout.
