PAHIATUA NEWS.
{From Oar Resident Reporter). Saturday. HEW I INDUSTRY AT MANGAMAIRE. A large meeting of milk suppliers interested in the formation of the cooperative cheese factory at Mangamaire, was held last evening. The company was floated and the committeefappointed at the last meeting reported that satisfactory arrangements had been made with the Bank of New South Wales to finance the company. The committee also recommended that the company be called the "Rexdale Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd." and this was agreed to by the meeting. The nominal capital was fixed at £1,500, and it was suggested that the shares (twenty shillings each) should be allocated on the amount of butter-fat supplied.. While the nominal capital is £1,500, it was thought there would be no occasion to call out more than half the amount, the idea being that £d per pound of butter-fat be kept back each month as calls on shares. The following were appointed provisional directors: —Messrs E. Bodrr.in, H. Daysh, Tudor Pownall, P. Quirk, J. Brechin, J. Barron and P. C. Neilsen. Mr E. Bodmin was appointed c.iainiihn ;>nd secretary, pro tern, and Mr J. Os-burn-Lilly as appointed solicitor to the company. A meeting of the directors will be held at Mr Bodmin's house on Monday evening, to draw up and sign the articles of Association. It is experted that the factory will be ready for receiving milk about the first week in Septembr. So fsr h site haa not been fixed on, but a free site is at present under offer to the company. FOOTBALL. MANGATAINOKA v. KONINJ. The Senior cup match between the Mangatainoka and Konini Clubs was played on Saturday afternoon last, and an exceedingly willing and vnigorous game ended in favour of Managtainoka by three points (a goal from a mark) tc nil. The play was the most vigorous of any seen in local play this season, but both teams took hard knocks and gave them without complaint. .'"Goldie" Mexted, at half, for thefjwinners played the best back game on the ground, while Cresswell and Harvey were the pick of the forwards. Cowan's place kick from which the winning goal was kicked was a splendid effort. For the losers the Smith Bros, were the pick, and did a lot of hard work. Mr Chatwin controlled the game. A large crowd of people attended and the excitement throughout ran high. GENERAL. Messrs Norrell and Murray, for many years connected with the Scarborough fellmongery, gave up possession of the premises yesterday to the new proprietors. The Rev. Isaacson, wno has been on a visit to Wellington on church matters, returned home to-day. Considerable discussion is taking place locally concerning a slander action which is pending. One of the parties concerned (defendant) is a prominent resident of Eketahuna, and the other a local man. The Rev F. W. Isitt conducted the Wealeyan anniversary services here yesterday morning and evening.
