Owing to Moorish aggression, the Spanish forts at Melilla (a fortified convict settlement belonging to Spain on the north coast of Morocco), bombarded Mozugar tribesmen who were encamped near by. The Spaniards then charged them, inflicting heavy loss. Subsequently the Spaniards captured a strategic position at Ulayon, after a desperate fight. Several Spaniards were killed, and 32 wounded.
