Miss F. Kay, of Masterton, ha 9 been appointed assistant-mistress at Roseneath School, Wellington. Mr Joseph Chamberlain, the wellknown British statesman, celebrated his 73rd birthday yesterday. Mr 11. J. Jeffries, Postmaster at Cambridge, is about to retire after 36 years' service. Constable Larkin, of Kilbirnie, has arrived at Greytown to relieve Constable Armour, who is going to Patea to take up duties there. Mr Alf. Snowball (new General Secretary of the Masterton Y.M.C.A.) and family arrived from Wellington last night, and are at present staying at Sonoma Private Hotel. Mr W. 0. Bayliss, of Parkvale, was married on Tuesday last, at Wanganui, to Miss Blanche Curtiss, third daughter of Mr A. Curtis, of Wellington, and formerly of Folding. Mr C. Hood Williams, secretary of the Lyttelton Harbour Board—a position he has held for a great many v--fus —ha? be .mi ill for some time, and though he is recovering he hi;s been recommended to take a sea voyage. The Board have granted him six months, leave on full pay, expressing keen arpraciaticri" of hia" valuable service?.
