BURGLARIES AT CHRISTCHURCH.
By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 8.
It is stated that a number of premises in Christchurch were burglariously entered last night, although the thieves got little satisfaction for their enterprise. Two offices situated in Gloucester Street were ransacked at a late hour. The burglars evidently gained admission with skeleton keys, and proceeding to the office of H. L. Friend, they picked the lock of the door and went through the premises. Fortunately the local manager banked late in the afternoon, and the only reward the thieves got was a small amount of loose silver from a drawer. Leonard Blake's office opposite was next ransacked, and drawers forced open, but the thieves came away empty handed, as nothing of value had been lefi in the office. It is understood that other premises were also entered.
