DROWNING ACCIDENT.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WHANGAREI, July 5. ' William Smith, aged 32, an exmember of the Hong Kong police force, left Dyaon's store, Parahaki, on Friday, at noon, on horseback, for his farm five miles away. On Saturday morning Smith's horse, with its saddle and bridle on, was found on the opposite bank of the Opokino river, which was heavily flooded. Search parties were out all day on Saturday and on Sunday till 3 p.m., when Smith's dead body was found further down the stream. The deceased had Been married two years and leaves a widow and child.
