CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Resident Reporter). Monday. I regret to have to chronicle the death of Mr Joseph Bailey, of Parkvale, which occurred last night. The deceased was 58 years of age, and had been ailing for a long period. The late Mr Bailey had been a resident of the district for a number of years, and was much respected. The funeral will take place this afternoon at the Clareville Cemetery. Messrs Rayner and Sons have purchased the farm of Mrs Harris, at Maungatarere, ,at a satisfactory figure.
Mrs Larsen this morning commenced duty as relieving teacher at the Belvedere School until a successor to Mr H. McFarlane, who has been granted six months' sick leave, and then retires on superannuation, has been appointed. Mr McFarlane and family purpose taking up their residence at Seatoun, and prior to their departure will be farewelled at a social by the congregation of St. Andrews'' Church. A golf match between teams from Greytown and Middle Run was played on Saturday afternoon at the latter place, „the visitors being defeated by nine games to two. , A large quantity of Dalefield milk at-present finds a market in Wellington, and is conveyed there by the 10.40 o'clock goods train each morning.
