(From Our Kesident Reporter). ~ Saturday. ' Captain Surgeon D. G. Johnston, of the local Rifle Volunteers, will deliver a course of lectures to the Corps on ambulance work shortly. Corporal Lawrence has been promoted to Sergeant, ».nd Private 0. be a Corporal. The orderly appointments for this month are as follow:—Orderly officer, Lieut. Hart; Orderly Sergeant, Sergeant Hall; Oiderley Corporal, Corporal Martin; Company Orderley, Private Haxton. At the parade last evening, Captain Skey put (he Company through various manoeuvres, Staff-Sergeant-Major McCrystal was present. The suppliers to the Taratahi Dairy,' Company held their annual re-union in„the Clareville"' Hall, last evening, when a very enjoyable time was

spent by a large audience in dancing, singing and music. During the evening, Mr W." Fisher, Chairman of Pirectors, presented Mr A. McKanzie, who has resigned the position of manager to take'up a similar position for the eight factories in the late J l , L J oil's estate, in Taranaki, with a handsome silver watch", suitably inscribed. In the afternoon Mr McKenzie received a presentation from the factory managers in the South Wairarapa. One of the most enjoyablatoncerts yet held under the auspices of the Belvedere School Committee took place in the school house last evening, the- audience being large and appreciative. The items by the child-

ren were especially good, and reflected much credit upon the headmaster, Mr H. McFarlane, who tjad taken great pains in training them, and has reason to feel gratified at the manner in'which they performed their respective parts. At the close ot the concert Mr H. McPhee, Chairman, thanked all who had assisted. After light refreshments had been partaken of the room was cleared for dancing, which was kept up till the small hours of this morning to music played by Mr H. Woodley. Eggs are being retailed at Is 8d per dozen in Carterton at the present

time. The following sales of purebred poultry were effected at the South Wairarapa Poultry Show held here this week:—Messrs H. M. Wilton, White Leghorn cockerel; E. Eagle, jnr., Guinea Fowls; J. M. Nicholls, Brown Leghorn cockerel; W. Tucker, Buff Orpington and Brown Leghorn cockerels; W. Moore, White Leghorn cockerel; and G. Sievers, Silver Wyandotte cockerel. , A heavy downpour of rain was experienced here thia afternoon. -*
