PAHIATUA NEWS.

\From Oar Resident Reporter). Wednesday. WEDDING. Thia morning at St. Petsr'a Church, Mr Christopher Robert Eddie,, second aon of Mr Andrew Eddie, of "Te Tarata,*' Mangabao, wa3 married to Miss Rose Victor De Malmanche, third daughter of Mr Benjamin De Malmanc&e, of Pahiatua. The bride, who was given away by hsr father, Vas neatly attired in a cream taffeta Empire frock, trimmed with cream net and satin buttons and tassels. i She wore the usual orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet. Miss A. De Malmanche, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and she wore a pale gTeen taffeta dress, trimmed with cream net and dark green velvet, a "Merry Widow" hat to match, aud she" also carrid a shower bouquet. Mr E. Eddie was best man. After the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Isaacson, thp bridal party and guests adjourned to "Belle View Cottage," the residence of the .bride's parer.ts, where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of. The usual toasts were honoured, and some spUiditi, ches bar ting the occasion were made by *hqse present. Mr and Mrs Eddie left by the 12.30 train for their future home at Rangitawa (Main Trunk Line), the bride's travelling dress being a navy blue tailor-made costume with hat to match.

- GENEEAL. Five members of the Palmerston Ho*th branch of .the Woodlands Hunt Club arrived in Pahiatua this mornfing, to take part in the "run" at Hamua, this afternoon, and it is also their intention to stay to the Hunt Club ball at the same place this evening. The members are.Miss Brook?, who will ride Signet, Mr J. A. Mitchell (Deputy Master P. 8.) who Will be on Toprail, Mr J. L. Buick on Wisdom, Mr A. Buick on Kai Erin, and Mr R. Flyger. The half-yearly election of officers for Court Pahiatua, A.0.F., took place last evening as follows:-C.R., Bro. K. Bain; S.O.R. Bro. J. BayJiss; S.W., Bro. G. Tester; J.W., Bro. A. East: 5.8., Bro. Stratford. J. 8., Bro. V. Norrell; Minute Secretary and Treasurer, Bro. H. Fearcey; Secretary, Bro.'G. Gildred; Auditor, Bro. Darley. There was a j good attendance of members present, j Two new members were initiated and two proposed for membership. After Lodge business those present passed an enjoyable time at card playing. At the next meeting thu installation ' of officers will take place. ■;:;.'.-. The Huia hockey team journeyed ot Koniiii, this afternoon, and suffered defeat at the hands of '"the Konini ladies by 5 goals to 1. For. the-winners Miss Stewart (3) arid Misses Bissatt and Stone 1 each, ' scored coals, while Miss B. Spillane shot a goal for Huia. This is the first match in which the Huia Club have taken part, and with a little more practice, they should be able to hold their own with the other ' clubs about here. To-day the ground was very soft, and was against a good exhibition of hockey, by either aide.: Mr T. Verry, of Konini. mad 9 a very impartial referee. The Palmerston North branch of the Woodlands Hunt Club hold their annual' ball on July 23rd, at Palmeratori North. A strong committee has been formed, and arrangements for the ball are already well in hand.

PAHIATUA-AKITIO A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

There was a good attendance at the committee meeting of the Pah-•iataa-Akitio A. and P. Association j(n the Commercial Hotel last evenings Mr; J. C. Cooper presided. A great/deal of the meeting was taken '.jap Vwith the discussion on the showground site. Most members thought that the first show should be held on the Pahiatua racecourse if satisfactory terms could be arranged. At the general meeting of members wished the show if possible between the Borough and the railway station, the Ground Committee reported on the various sites inspected, and the only one that seemed suitable was the Scarborough Domain, which they stated was an ideal spot. If was decided to wait until something further was heard on the matter from the Pahiatua Racing Club and the Scarborough Domain Board. ,' Mr Prosser, a member of the Pah-

iatua Poultry and Pigeon Assoda- | tion, asked the opinion of the meeting as to taking over the assets of that Association, or of amalgamating the two Associations. The Poultry Society had a small credit balance in the bank, also staging and .{resales,- etc., valued at about £lO. There were also two silver cups which had been partly won by exhibitors. Several members favoured the suggestion of Mr Prosser, and a notice of motion was tabled, "That the Association favour amalgamating with the Pabiatua Pigeon and Poul try Association." One new member was elected and four proposed. . Mr W. I. Husband's name was added to the Ground Committee. Accounts amounting to £4 3s 9d were passed for payment.
