PRESS CONFERENCE.

LORD BERESFORD'S VIEWS.

NEWSPAPER COMMENT.

United Press Association—Bv Electric Telegraph Copyright. Received June 29, 8.30 a.m.

LONDON, June 28. "The Times," in commenting upon the results of the Imperial Press uonference, incidentally strongly deprecates Lord Charles Beresford's remarks at the final meeting of the conference regarding the Empire's preparedness for war, and the need of treating the question of defence as an Imperial whole. The paper considers his remarks premature, seeing that his views are still under consideration of the Sub' committee on Defence.

The "Daily News" attacks Lord Admiral Beresford, and warmly sup ports Sir John Fisher, who, the "News" claims, while enjoving the cjnfidence both of Conservative and Liberal Governments, brought the Navy into a condition never equalled before.

The "Morning Post" and the "Standard" emphasises the importance of Lord Charles Beresford speech. The "Daily Mail" sums up the result of the Press Conference as another milestone passed on the road to unity.
