CARTERTON NEWS.

(From OurKesident Reporter). Saturday. Mr and Mrs Kemp, who have been enjoying a holiday at Rotorua, have arrived home. Ths visit was made for*the benefit ot Mrs Kemp's health, and she is much improved by the trip. Mr E. Eagle, junr., presided at a committee meeting of the South Wairarapa Poultry, Pigeon, and Cage Bird Association this afternoon, when it was reported that good entries had been received for the show on Wednesday and Thursday next. It was decided to engage Messrs Patrick Bros., to cater for the dinner, and Messrs Shaw and Cole to do the carriage of birds to and from the railway station. The committee decided to meet again on Monday evening, to commence the erection of the'pens. Two handsome three-decker wedding cakes are on view in the window of Mrs A. L. Whyte's baker shop in High Street. Mrs Nation, nna of Carterton's eary pioneers, and now a resident of Petone, was a visitor to Carterton yesterday. Despite her advanced Mrs Nation is able to get about with a good deal of activity. Close on three hundred been received by the South Wairarapa. Poultry Association for their third annual show, which will take place next week. The exhibitors are repreand this must be gratifying to the society.
