LEPROSY.
AT COOK ISLANDS.
AN ALARMING INCREASE

The secretary of the London Missionary Society has received from a missionary a report stating that leprosy is increasing to an alarming extent in the Cook Islands. The spread of the disease is attributed to ignorance and carelessness on the part of the natives. The report adds that unless very severe measures are soon taken and strictly all tha. islands in the group, in the course of a few years, will be full of the disease, and the people will be doomed.
