S. .Clarke) for re-housing the poor and improving Bombay is realised, Sir Sydenham Clarke will leave an indelible mark on the Empire's second city.
London is, of course, the greatest city of the Empire, as it is of the world. Its population i 3 given at 4,758,218, and next in order come Bombay 982,000, Calcutta 955,926, Glasgow 847,584, Liverpool 746,144, Manchester 643,148, Birmingham 553,155, Sydney 538,800, Melbourne 526,400, Montreal 405,000.
