RADIUM IN ARTESIAN WATERS.
By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, June*l7.
At last evening's meeting of the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, the Chairman (Dr. Moorhouse) said that several members of the Philosophical Institute were making investigation with regard to the presence of radium in artesian water. It had ben suggested to him that the artesian bores in the public gardens belonging to the Society should be examined, and he had given the necessary permission. His action was approved, and the opinion"was expressd that it would be to the benetfi of the Society to find out the effect of radium emanations in artesian water on fish, and it would_.be nodosa to sacrifice a few fish in the interests or science.
