IN BANKRUPTCY.

ESTATE OF F. FORD

There were no creditors present at the meeting called for yesterday morning in connection with the bankruptcy of Francis Ford, of Masterton, labourer. Mr C. A. Pownall appeared for bankrupt.

In his written statement bankrupt set out that he came to live in Masterton about twelve months ago. Before that he was working on the Home wood station, East Coast. All his liabilities were incurred prior to his coming to Masterton to live. He was-compelled to shift from Homewood to Masterton owing to the continued sickness of his wife and children. The major portion of his indebtedness to the Homewood estate was for cash lent for the purpose of sending his wife to Masterton to obtain medical attendance. All moneys borrowed and earned were absorbed by medical expenses. The illness of his wife was folovved by sickness among the children, two of whom died during the last eighteen months he was at Homewrod. Since living in Masterton he had managed to pay his way, but had been unabla to reduce his old debts, and on being pressed was compelled to seek the prjtection of the Court. The liabilities all to unsecured creditors, amounted to £93 9s 9d, and the assets, consisting of furniture, totalled £2O. The following are the creditors:—Masterton : Dr. J. A. Cowie, £lO 10s; Pinhhey Bros., £1 6s 9d; P. HamilJ, £lO 18s; Waharapa Age Co., £1 10s; Homewood: Trustees Homewood Estate, £67. Te Ore Ore: J. C. McKillop, £7 ss.

Examined by Mr W. B. Chennells, D.0.A., bankrupt stated that at Homewood he was paid wages at the rate of £1 17s 6d, was provided with a free house, and otherwise had tu keep himself. He was at present caretaker of the new Showgrounds. His wages were £1 12s 6d a week and free house, with the right to run a cow Bankrupt had a family of five, and had no offer to make to his creditors. - This concluded the examination.
