There was fine weather and a big attendance to day for the first day of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Winter Meeting. Ths sum of £6,045 was passed through the totalisator, as compared with £6,153 on the first day last year—a decrease of £IOB. Seventeen bookmakers were licensed.
