POSTPONEMENT OF PARLIAMENT.
ROWDY MEETING IN WELLINGTON. HALF-HEARTED DEMONSTRATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 15. The Town Hall was packed to the doors to-night, when a meeting was held to protest against the postponement of Parliament. The speakers were Mestrs Herdman, Fisher and Wright, M.P.'s, Dr. Newman, Mayor of Wellington, and Mr J. G. W. Aitken, ex-M.P. The meeting was rather rowdy, it being apparent that many hundreds were there for'entertainment. A resolution was adopted protesting against the postponement of the session. * At] the close of" the meeting Mr Aitken suggested they should march to Parliament Buildings and make a demonstration. This was taken up in a rather halfhearted fashion. The mob that went down was stopped at the gates, v/here after a little bother, Mr Fisher advised them to go home. Referring in the House of Representatives, this evening, to the crowd assembled outside Parliament gates, the Premier denounced the attempts to get up a demonstration against himself, and ha defied those responsible.
