WAIRARAPA RURBY UNION. RED STAR v. GREYTOWN. Considerable interest was taken In the Senior match at Greytown, on Saturday last, between Red Star and : Greytown. Greytown had put up such a splendid fight against Carterton last year's champions, v oeing only beaten by two points aftev having had all the best of the play, and had played a drawn game with Gladstone which' team drew with Carterton, that they were generally considered stole to defeat the Stars. The latter played a good game, and had the best of play. A quarter of an hour after play had commenced they had two tries to their credit, Darvill and McLachlan scoring, the former from a pretty passing rush. Just before half time E. Skeet kicked a penalty goal for Greytown. The only score in the second spell was a goal from a mark kicked by hi. Skeet-for Greytown. The game thus ended in a draw—six points each. Mr F. THIRD-CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP. CARTERTON v. DALEFIELD. The match at Carterton between Dalefield and Carterton Third-class teams came to a sudden termination in the second spell. Dalefield were leading by six points to five, and the referee (Mr Nicholls) ordered a Dalefield player off the field for. questioning a decision given by him. The player concerned refused to leave the field, and, it is alleged, the other players urged him not to. Mr Nicholls thereupon awarded the game to Cartertun. RED STAR v. MASTERTON. NORTHERN UNION RULES. NEW ZEALAND v. AUSTRALIA. Received June 13, 5.20 p.m. By Telegraph—Press Association. SYDNEY, June 13. The New Zealand professional team defeated Australia by 19 points to 11. There were about 10,000 present at the match, which was not conspicuous for 'brilliancy. The "All Blacks" lost the services of J. Spencer through an accident, House filling his place. The tackling of the visitors was a great improvement on previous displays, but there was evident staleness on both sides. The local team showed want of combination. The visitors had decidedly the best of the first half, and obtained three tries, none of which were converted. In the second half Australia attacked with vigour, and levelled matters with a try, which was converted. Good combination by the "All Blacks, "however, put the team in the lead again with 14 points to 8. The Australian team next added a try, and then were kept on the defensive almost to the end of the spell, the "All Blacks" adding another try, which was converted. There was no further score, and the visitors won by 19 points to 11.
