"DAVID, THE SHEPHERD BOY."
TO-NIGHT. The final rehearsal of the sacred cantata "David, the Shepherd Boy," which is to be rendered in the Methodist Church, this evening, in new pipe organ fund, was held in the Church last evening. There was a full attendance, and the practice was very successful. There are 65 performers taking part in the cantata, including an orchestra of 10 instruments, and judging by the practice last evening there is every indication of the cantata beirg a decided success. The following are the names.of principals with their parts:—Abigail, soprano, Miss V. Edwards; Abigail's two attendants, sopano and contralto, Miss B. Joy and Miss Judd; Mich'al, contralto, Miss F. Elkins; David, tenor, Mr W. S. J ago; Jonathan, tenor, Mr J. Gray; Jesse, baritone, Mr C. Moorshead; Samuel, bass, Mr T. Moor;. Saul, bass, Mr S. H. Ralph; Elder (who crowns David), bass, Mr T. Moor; Abner and Messenger, tenor, Mr Niven; Three Men of War, Mr Niven, Mr Sleeman and Mr Morris. The programme includes the fol lowing:—"The Feast of the Trumpets at Bethlehem," "Abigail at Carmel," "Saul in Despondency," dialogue "Two Sentinels," "After the Battle," "David and Jonathan in the Forest of Ziph," "Saul and Jonathan in the King's Palace," "David in Exile," "David and the Shepherd Queen," "The Carmelite Bride," "The Evening Before the Coronation," "The Coronation.''
