The request was granted, the Engineer being authorised to supervise the work.

The Taueru Football Club wrote to ask permission to remove the fence ot the Taueru triangle, adjoining Mr Loader's property opposite the Taueru Hotel, for the purpose of forming a football ground. Cr Beetham moved, and Cr Toogood seconded, that the application be declined, the latter having pointed out that the public would be inconvenienced in the driving of stock, as the land to be enclosed was used as a stock rest.

The Mauriceville County Council wrote granting permission to expend Mr Johanaen's thirds on a road in the MauriceviJle County.—Cr Foreman moved that the Council also approve of the expenditure, the motion being carried. County Council wrote stating that it had approved of a system of rating whereby rates be levied according to the improved means of access given by the expenditure of the loans instead of a level rate, and asking if the Masterton Council supported the idea. After a short discussion, in which it was generally considered that the idea was too complex and so impracticable, it was decided to inform the Clifton Council of this view.

Mrs J. Cameron wrote respecting an alleged departure from the advertised conditions in connection with the deposit of soil taken out in connection with the Opaki water races. It was resolved to draw the attention of the Engineer to the matter. Mr J. Montgomery wrote asking the Council to do something to prevent the further erosion of South road by the Waingawa river. The matter was reported to be under consideration by a committee. A written request by Mr J. Hennessey to be relieved of the unfinished balance of his Alfredton road metalling contract, was granted, on the motion of Cr Murray, 25 per cent, due on the contract to be retained until 31 days have expired.
