(From Oar Resident Reporter). Monday. WEDDING. At St. Peter's Church this morning a pretty wedding was celebrated, the contracting parties being Miss Eileanor Howard, sixth daughter/tf Mr William Howard, of "Peepde.ie," Kaitawa, and Mr Alan third son of the lute James Hepburn, of Liverpool, England.^JThe^,bride, who was'given " herfather, looked Handsome fin £a navy f.blue tailor-made costume, and a "Merry Widow" hat. i Annie Howard, who was bridesmaid, *was dressed;in brown taffeta. was best man. After the ceremony, whjchjwas performed'by the Rev. wedding party and (guesj:sjjvere driven East's Tea'jjfoooms, where a sumptuous] 4wedding_Jbjreakfast was pataken of. Th g_J"£H£l toasts were honoured, and felicitous speeches made. Mr and Mrs Hepburn left by the afternoon train for the South, where the honeymoon is to bH spent. Their future home will fce at Christckurcb. A wedding between two well-known Mangatainoka residents is to be celebrated this wotk. GENERAL. Messrs Anderson and Leaven's Skating. Rink is being well patronised. On Saturday night, the proprietors engaged ?.n orchestra'of three players to make the evening more enjoyable. At St. Paul's Church, last evening, the choir sang the anthem "Rock of Ages," the solo parts being taken by Miss C. Sayers and Mr Clough and Mr B. Mills sang "Almost Persuaded." A social is being arranged for in aid of the renovation fund of the Church of Christ. A good programme has been drawn up, and the function will no doubt be well attended. A social is to be held in the Kaitawa Hall on Wednesday evening. At the conclusion of the rungof the Woodlanc's Hunt Club on Saturday last afternoon tea was kindly supplied to the huntsmen by Mrja and Miss Mexted. This was much appreciated, and Mr Rodney, the Master, returned thanks on behalf of the, huntsmen. As Webb, the ex-champion sculler of the world, is fairly well known in parts- considerable interest is being taken in the coming race -between the Wanganui sculler and the present champion, Arnst. Mr Gibb, Government Apiarist, will deliver a lecture on "Bee and Beekeeping',' in St. Peter's Schoolroom this (Monday) evening.
