MASTERTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report s follows:—We held 'our usual sale of wool and skins, yesterday, when we submitted a record catalogue of 160 bales and fadges, 80 bags wool, 2,600 sheepskins, 60 hides and a quantity of tallow, rabbitskins and horsehair. There was a large attendance of buyers and competition for all lots was extremely spirited. Prices showed an advance of Jd ii 2d on our last sale. We quote:—Best crutchings, 5d to s|d; 4d to 4£d; inferior, 3d to 3*d; crossbred wool, 6Jd to 8d; pieces, 4dto4Jd; locks and pieces, 3Jd; dead wool, 6d to 6Jd. Skins—Crossbred, 6Jd to 7£d;, half bred wools, 5Jd to 6Jd; quarterbred wools, 4 ; ? dto sid; lambs, s£d to 7d; shorts, 2|d to sd: dead, 4Jd tos|d; pelts, 2d to 4d; damp and green , crossbred, 4s to ss; damp shorts, Is 3d to 3s; damp half bred wools, 3s 6d. Hides—Ox, 4£d to s|d; I cow, 4Jd to 5Jd; calf, good, 7|d to B§d; inferior, 2|d to _4gd. TaUow: Casks. 22s 3d to 22s 6d; barrels, 20s; | tins, 18s to 19s; rough fat, 16s. Our next sale will be held on July 14th, 1909. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-oper-ative Association, Ltd., and Messrs Dalgety and Co., report as follow: —We held our monthly sale of wool, skins and hides yesterday (Thursday) offering 35 bales and 100 bags of wool and crutchings, 1,200 sheepskins and 200 hides, and a quantity of horsehair and tallow. There was a large attendance of buyers, and bidding was exceptionally keen for crutchings, which realised from 4|d to 5Jd. We quote:—Matted fleecQ, ■6£ d; crutchings, 4|d to s£d.; crutchings, seedy, 3£d; crutchings, dirty, 4&d; black, sd; locks, 3d. SkinsCrossbred, fine, 7d; crossbred, 6|d; crossbred half wools, 5d to 6£d; crossbred half wools, damp, 3s 5d each; crossbred, dead, s£d; black, 3d., lamh. 6£d; hoggets, 4£d; crossbred, green, 3s 6d. M ides—Cow, 3dtos§d; cow, slippy, 2§d to 4|d; ox, s|d to 5 2-8 d; ox, slippy, 4 3-8 d; calf, good, B|d; calf cut, 4£d; calf, slippy, 2fd. Tallow—ln bags, 1553 d; in tins, 18s 9d. HorsehairIs.
