SPORTING.
FOOTBALL. The members of the newly formed club in Masterton playing under tbe Australian rules, held a very successful practice on Saturday last. It is anticipated that there will be enough players for two teams, and judging by the enthusiasm shown, there is every indication of the game becoming permanently established in Masterton.

At the annual meeting of tt£ New Zealand Football Association to-night, the following officers were elected: —Patron, His Exellency the Governor: President, Sir Joseph Ward; Vice-Presidents, lion. W. Carncross, M.L.C., Dr. Walker, Messrs F. E. Baume, (Aucklaud),'T." K. Sidey and G. F. Arnold (Dunedin), R. H. Rhodes (Elleemere). J. T. Hogan (Wanganui), Vigor Brown (Napier), A. Dillon (Hawke's Ba\) and Hanan (Invercargill). F. J. G. W. Aitken, H. N. Holmes, R. B. Walker, C. E.l Mackay; Treasurer, Mr L. White; Secretary, Mr B. L. Salmon; Auditor, Mr M. Francis.
The Brown Shield was awarded to the Wellington Association to be held subject to a challenge by any other affiliated Association. Regulations for such matches were drawn up.
