MASTERTON COLLIE CLUB.
THIRD'DAY'OF DOG TRIALS. ■■ The annual trials in connection with the Masterton Collie Club were concluded on Saturday, having lasted for three daya. Fine weather prevailed throughout the meeting, and in this mattar the Club was particularly fortunate. The conducting of the trials was greatly facilitated by the excellent arrangements made by the 'jomrriittee and the energetic secretary, Mr G. R. Sykes. The judge, Mr'W. McKenzie, of Porangahau, carried out his arduous duties in a most impartial manner, and ex-i pressed his entire satisfaction with the.manner in which the various arrangements were carried out. The sheep lent for the trials by Mr C. Jj Bennett were excellent for the purpose. Coompetitors were loud in their praise of the grounds lent for the trials by Mr Walter Cameron, which was generally considered an ideal site. , Following are the results:—
HUNT-AWAY.—Between 3 sets of flags, placed one chain apart, .latter set of flags about 350 yards from starting point. Mr J. fi. Sutherland's' Bruce,

G.Sutherland's Bob, 5, 3, 5, 8, total 21 5 ■ JUDGE'S COMMENTS. J. G. Sutherand's Bruce started well, with plenty of noise, and on a good line. He finished the course in good style. J. Miller's Black started rather quietly, but made plenty of noise later on. He came in below the sheep, but turned them right again. He worked well going out on the hill, and nfiished the course in good style. W. Pringle's Jed started with plenty of noise, but at times kept rather far from the sheep. He watched his owner too much, but finished the course in fair style. R. Grant's ftandy made no .noise at the start, and allowed the sheep to get tao far to the right. He wanted to much guiding, and did not get to the last flag in time.
